Ron's 2019 Year In Review

It’s that time of the year - the time for the obligatory end of year recap post! I suppose it’s not that obligatory since I neglected to do one last year? A few of my favorite photos from the year with captions are below, but if you want you can see the full gallery of my 2019 favorites.

Sarah and I were on the road for about five months (a travel schedule made possible by our Airstream and working remotely) and in that time saw many friends, places new and familiar, and exhausted ourselves with an intense photography schedule while both working full time. We look forward to doing it again in 2020! Here is a brief recap of our year:

  • Anza Borrego Desert State Park in southern California, celebrating the new year with many photographer friends

  • Zion National Park in the winter to catch a fleeting snow storm with Mike Chamberlain

  • Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks in the winter with David, Jennifer, Alex, and TJ

  • A ten day trip to Miami to visit Ron and Eva (our first visit to Florida)

  • A six week trip to Utah in the spring, including Factory Butte, Capitol Reef, and Zion

  • A shortened summer hiking and wildflower season due to record winter snowfall at home in Colorado, including camping trips with Jessie, David, and Jennifer

  • A trip to San Diego to see the beaches, gardens, food, and Jimmy

  • A seven week trip to the Pacific Northwest (including Mt. Rainier National Park, Olympic National Park, and Cannon Beach) with Jessie including a quick side trip to Death Valley where we saw Alex, Taylor and TJ.

“Floral Factory” - One of the better recent spring wildflower blooms at Factory Butte in Utah. Unfortunately this area was opened up to OHV traffic and is now likely destroyed.

“Winter Reflections” - Actually, this classic view from Mt. Rainier was taken in early October when the fall colors are usually at their high point. The frigid temperatures accelerated the end of the fall colors but provided other opportunities.
